ENVITER
European Network for Vision Impairment Training Education & Research

Background

In March 2001, 7 European Institutes for the Blind or Visually Impaired gathered to form an European network, to share ideas and practices and to work together on research and technology projects. [Known as ECSerProVip]

From this situation the group has grown with the addition of new members and a wider set of objectives, to this issue the group was officially renamed in March 2006 as ‘ENVITER’.

ENVITER is established in France as an Association under the Law of 1st of July 1901 and the Order in Council of 16th of August 1901.

ENVITER:

The European Network for Vision Impairment Training Education & Research

All the members of ENVITER are specialised schools, colleges or institutes working with the Blind or Visually Impaired. ENVITER represents some of Europe’s leading specialists in this field.

Core Objectives

Members of ENVITER are aware of growing European Unification and of the necessity for co-operation on a permanent basis within the EU; in order to implement this aim, the network will provide the vehicle for achieving the following objectives:

  • To provide a network for service providers working in the field of lifelong learning with and on behalf of people with visual impairments.
  • To provide a European forum for the exchange of knowledge, expertise and experience of the members of this network.
  • To promote and influence good practice in the field of services for people with vision impairment.
  • Jointly to conduct and support research, training and dissemination of evidence based learning directed towards improving access to lifelong learning and other services for people with visual impairments.
  • To share expertise and experience in a peer reviewed setting in order to promote the development of services and the accompanying best practices, thereby minimising duplication of resource expenditure on service development.
